     These featured items are created using vintage sari silk, cotton block print, or hand-loomed silk by KISMET, a small family oriented company. KISMET is based in Venice, California and working in the rural villages of Western India. We proudly support a thriving cottage industry of creative individuals who share our core value of quality in our products, our environment, and in our lives. Women, especially, are encouraged to participate in the business.
     KISMET provides a creative, income generating opportunity that is both empowering and completely on their own terms. We strongly believe that helping maintain the complex traditions of Indian family life through balance between work and home is vital to the well being of our workers and the sustainability of our enterprise. We use only the finest recycled vintage saris, hand loomed silks and recycled handmade papers. 
    The availability of these materials limits our production to boutique quantities, but assures that each KISMET product you purchase will be exceptional. According to Hindu tradition, the sari is a ritual symbol of renewal. As old saris are discarded, they are replaced by new ones, thus completing the circle. Therefore, your purchase of one of these featured items helps to circulate and reuse this beautiful sari material!
